Welcome to Part 2 of I Dream of Packing Suitcases

(Have you checked out Part 1? Ready for Part 3?)

In this Episode – The place matters.

Sometimes we miss the food products and shopping from the places we’ve called home.

But sometimes we just need the place itself. The feeling we get being there that cannot be packed into a suitcase: The weather, the sounds, the proximity to people we love.

For me, that place is California.

It’s where a lot of memories and significant life events happened. Those events and those memories are tied to the place: learning to drive through the Livermore vineyard area, weekends in Santa Cruz on the beach, Christmas Eve dinners in warm evening air surrounded by family. To me, regardless of the shopping and delicious food (oh the food!), I just want to be in those places, feeling the sunshine, looking over the rolling hills or smelling the sea air.

In this episode, we hear from Catrina about her love of island life in Penang, Malaysia. We also hear from Mallika and the mouthwatering street food she must have in New Delhi, India. Listen to hear their stories about all the things they would pack into a suitcase: realistic and the things dreams are made of.

 Part 2 Tangents include

  • Mementos from parents
  • BREAD!
