The Habits We Have - From Childhood, In Relationships, With In-Laws, & The Impact of Current Events

Episode 31 - February 4th, 2021

The Habits We Have…

Imbedded in childhood,

taken in to relationships,

balanced with in-laws,and impacted by current events.

My Mom is back for an impromptu, unscripted conversation.

Listen to us talk through the impact of current events on our habits and how we pass those habits on from generation to generation.

How Meghan inherited habits from her grandma’s experience during The Great Depression, how the energy crisis of California makes us walk in the dark, and how the pandemic will create habits that could last a lifetime.

Tangents include:

  • A debate about gender roles
  • Do you keep a good box?
  • Why its not just moms who make home
  • And how we balance habits with in-laws

My personal well-loved copy of Essentialism.

Habit Related Book Recs

Atomic Habits – James Clear

Inspiration for new habits and the power they have to change your day and your life. This is one of my top books regardless of category. 100% recommend!

Essentialism – Greg McKeown

One of the few books I have reread. Essentialism supports a lot of the habits I already have and help me see them in a new way. McKeown provides practical guides that don’t force you to throw everything away but to approach the type minimalism that works for you.

The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up – Mari Kondo

The book and the Netflix series about Tidying Up help those who do not naturally declutter and filter. For those, as I said in the episode, who have more of an emotional response to the moving of things out of their homes.
